 Special General Assembly

Come out to this Special General Assembly to hear the Bargaining Action Team’s proposed demands. We will discuss, amend, and vote on these demands, and rank them in order of priority.

This assembly is an essential part of our union’s democracy, and is the last step before we can begin negotiating with Concordia. This means that it’s more important than ever for you to participate, make your voice heard, and show the employer that we will stand together and fight for the improvements we need.

Hall Terrace (Behind Reggie’s)

International Working Women’s Day Rally and Protest Sign Making

Join us for the yearly rally for International Working Women’s Day (IWWD), organized by the Feminist Workplace Committee (FWC). Prior to the rally we invite members to get involved by making protest signs with snacks and coffee provided (Sign making begins at 11:30 am in the CSU art nook).

Each year, the IWWD rally is an opportunity to collaborate with other unions on campus and to foreground our current campaigns. This year we are taking Concordia to task on their horrendous sexual violence policy. Sexual violence is a workplace safety issue!

At this town hall we’ll go over what is and isn’t in our CA, and what should be, with a focus on workload issues, and the right to safe work. Come out to the HIVE in the Hall Mezzanine for some snacks and sharing!

Zoom Town Hall

Join us online and let us know what issues you’ve encountered as a TA and RA! What are the most common problems in your department? How could our collective agreement strengthen protections for members with disabilities and other accessibility needs?
Come tell us about it!

When we bargain with Concordia, we want to improve our rights and protections in our collective agreement (CA), and to do so we need to hear what’s missing. At this bargaining town hall, we’ll go over what is and isn’t in our CA, and what should be!

Collective Agreement Reading Party (CARP) #1

Come on out for a deep dive into reading our collective agreement (CA), the legal document which enshrines all of our rights, protections, and rates of pay as Teaching and Research Assistants. This reading party will focus on reading the first half of the CA, which covers many important definitions such as our position as student-workers, what qualifies as discrimination and harassment, and our right to meet with and demand information from the employer.

As we prepare for bargaining, it is crucial that we know our CA well so we know what we want to change. There is much room for improvement here, so come get nerdy with the CARP and brainstorm how we can make our CA stronger!

Union Organizer Training

Interested in getting more involved, learning about our union, or organizing your department? We are hitting the ground running with an organizer training on Sunday, February 4th, at the CSN! This one-day union member training—open to all CREW members (TAs/RAs at Concordia)—will cover: CREW’s structure, the basics of union organizing, our current collective agreement and what needs to change, and some of our active committees and groups. A union is as strong as its members—and it's up to us to build it so we have the power to secure real improvements in and outside our workplace.
